Brown is Beautiful Quilt I

I am officially retired from my work at Ithaca College as of today. There will be more quilts in my future. This one was a pile of blocks in my studio and I think that I was going to make a queen size quilt in this colorway. And years ago, I pieced the blocks — I set some rules that got too hard to follow like using each fabric only once or once in each spot or something and so I let it sit. When I got it out to look at it, I realized that there was a decent sized quilt that was missing only one block — and there was fabric. So I made up the block. And then I sewed it together. And now it is waiting to be quilted.

Years ago me was precise about the sizing and trimming of the blocks as no squaring up was needed. The pattern is a simple wrapped square or rectangle, all built on 2.5 inch strips and 12.5 inch (12 inch finished) blocks. It was a lovely breezy spring day when I took this photo.
