Maybe time for some knitting. . . .

In addition to my quilting, I’ve been doing some knitting this fall. I’ve been following Arne and Carlos on YouTube and decided to try some of their patterns. Their Christmas project this year was 24 Nordic Jumpers to use as an Advent calendar. I bought the patterns. I bought the lovely Norwegian yarn and started knitting away.
These little sweaters are closed at the bottom, so that I can put little things in them. This requires a magic caston — which fortunately, I already know how to do as it is the same as a toe up sock. Then there is colorwork. Well. I know how to do that now. It’s a good thing that I can easily knit with both hands as the easiest way to do colorwork is to have one strand in each hand.
I have not yet finished the 24 little sweaters. I think I’m currently working on my 11th. The photo below has most of them. I will take a better photo soon and add to this post. They are hanging on a quilt above our fireplace (we don’t use the fireplace ever). I’ll find a better way to hang them next year.

Advent calendar Nordic mini sweaters

I’m planning on finishing the set so that we will have a real Advent calendar next year. It’s not really a part of our tradition, but this looked like too much fun to skip, so I didn’t. And then, there are the Christmas balls. I bought that pattern also, I haven’t knit a single one yet, but they use the same patterns as the sweaters, so I should be able to romp through them. Arne and Carlos did them all in red and white, but I might work a few other colors in. The gold and blues and the green are also quite pretty colors.
